As August approaches at an alarming speed, Cadillac has released a new ATS sedan variant for Chinese markets. The ATS-L, an extended-wheelbase take on the sporty luxury sedan, is coming to the market on August 15. The ATS-L gets the eager 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four and a 6.2-second 0-62 mph time.
In the one exterior photo that’s been released, this new machine looks nice, in spite of the extra space between the wheels. The well-proportioned sedan grows by 85 mm, or 3.3 inches; if all of that translates into increased legroom, the ATS-L will have 36.8 inches of space. That’s a little more than the 35.4 inches in the back of the 2014 CTS, but not yet as much as the 40 inches in the XTS. It doesn’t make sense why the Chinese buyers won’t just choose the roomier XTS, but General Motors wouldn’t be offering a vehicle like this if they didn’t think it would be a high-quality vehicle that people would want to buy. The car is currently Chinese-market only, but that could change.
